Scoring types
Reference
A racing event's scoring type decides how finishes turn into results. You set it in the Scoring Type field, in the Competition Setup section, when you create the event.
| Scoring type | Meaning | Uses handicaps |
|---|---|---|
| Position | Standard finish position scoring | No |
| Corrected Time | Handicap-adjusted time scoring | Yes |
| Pursuit | Boats start at staggered times based on handicap; first across the line wins | Yes |
Which events have a scoring type
The scoring type applies to the racing event types: Open, Series, and Regatta. Non-racing events (Training and Social) are not scored, so they have no scoring type.
Handicaps
Corrected Time and Pursuit both use handicaps. When you choose either, the create form shows a Handicap Type field where you pick the handicap system, and it hides the class list, because any class can enter. Position does not use handicaps. For more, see Run a handicap event.
